TransJeju 100k by UTMB 🇰🇷
You can write tons of things after a race: your time, your placing, the kilometers covered. But even we, runners ourselves, know this better than anyone: no account truly captures the essence. The emotions that pass through, the flow that settles then evaporates, the peaks of euphoria like the valleys of despair.
TransJeju 100k was exactly that. A story profoundly unique, sealed forever between those who tell it and Jeju Island's volcanic trails that carried them. After four weeks of reconnaissance, we discovered what makes this UTMB World Series race demanding: endless basalt staircases, unpredictable volcanic rock gardens, and a challenging 20-kilometer unsupported section ascending Mount Hallasan's crater rim at 1,950 meters.
Critical lessons carved in volcanic stone: the five-minute decision that cost hours of suffering, why you must cheer for yourself at the summit, and how mental strength carries you when physical strength fails.
Then, we'll do it again.
Trail Running Seoul 🇰🇷
At UltraNomades, we spent six weeks trail running in and around Seoul, discovering a city where subway-accessible hikes lead to granite peaks, pine forests, and historic fortress walls. From the technical climbs of Bukhansan National Park to the peaceful loops around Namsan and the panoramic ridges of the Seoul City Wall, every run revealed a new layer of Korea’s natural and cultural richness. We joined a local trail race just outside the city—proof that mountains surround Seoul—and met passionate runners like Jay and Mindy, who shared insights into Korean running culture. Through local clubs and weekend meetups, we discovered a vibrant community, even if language sometimes created distance. Whether training on open stadium tracks, running along the Han River, or exploring the Seoul Dulle-gil trail network, we found that nature in Seoul is never far. This city is a true trail running paradise, where adventure begins with a metro card and leads to summits.
