“Give it your all, stay focused and find pleasure in every step. It's in passion that we surpass ourselves, travel far and truly connect.”

- Elisabeth

I was born in 1983 into a world that I explored step by step. Today, those steps have become strides on the trails that beckon me time and again.

My name is Élisabeth Petit, and for me, trail running isn't just a sport — it's a way of inhabiting the world. From the forests of Quebec to the trails of South Africa and the hills of Scotland to the landscapes of Chile, I've found part of myself in every place I've visited.

My passion for travel is naturally intertwined with my love of trail running. I love discovering other countries' cultures, traditions, and cuisines, which give my adventures a deeper meaning. An epicurean at heart, I seek out the simple, authentic pleasures that nature generously provides. While running, I prefer the sound of crunching leaves under my feet and birdsong to any playlist.

I began my sporting career with team sports—basketball, soccer, and rugby—before discovering the joy of long hikes. I took up running in 2013 and it has been a part of my life ever since.

Despite my discipline and commitment to my training plan, I never forget the most important thing: I run because I'm alive! While my heart beats for the trails, I also enjoy running through the bustling streets, crossing the neighborhoods that each tell their own story. My insatiable curiosity is a blessing! It's led to my well-earned nickname, "Encyclopedia." I love absorbing the details of every place I visit.

On the trails, I'm known as the chamois, a nickname certainly not born of my downhill "ease" — but that's all part of the fun! And if you happen to come across me in the mountains, you'll probably notice my bag full of jujubes — my faithful energy companions!

I'm known for my smile, even in the mud and on the toughest climbs. Good humor isn't just an attitude for me—it's a daily discipline, and I love it!

I love meeting local trail runners in between races. This sisterhood is truly invaluable, and I'm thrilled to create inclusive spaces on the trails.

My concrete goal? I can't wait to run the CCC trails again in 2027! But beyond the stopwatches, I have a bigger dream: to help make mountain running accessible to everyone. I'm convinced that nature reminds us of our place in the immensity of the world.

Francis and I share a connection that goes beyond our mutual passion for running. One of our fondest memories is standing in awe of the Rocky Mountains along the Glacier Route in Banff, our native Canada. We walk life's path together, sometimes at different speeds, but always finding each other to contemplate how far we've come.
